The Copper ion destroys the legionellae and other bacteria by piercing the extern protective membrane of the cell and thus disrupts its equilibrium (the osmotic equilibrium). The silver ions are used to interrupt the DNA production, thus preventing the cellular reproduction, and hasten the lyse phase of the bacteria. It is totally harmless for the human beings, animals and plants.
